When God directed Moses to bring the Israelites out of Egypt, He not only gave him all the tools, but also guided him every step of the way.
"Our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; and were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea; and did all eat the same spiritual meat; and did all drink; for they drank of the spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ." (1 Cor. 10: 1-4)
Paul starts this chapter with an admonition that he does not want us to be ignorant of the significance of this. It is easy to take the accounts in the book of Exodus as sacred history that involved only those involved at that time.
This passage is a depiction of how God loves, leads and protects. How awesome to be under a cloud by day and led by a pillar of fire at night, eh? Just think; you would not even have to work for a living, as manna would just fall from heaven fresh every day except for the extra day of rest when you did not even have to go out and pick it up!
As a child of the Most High, you are baptized into Jesus, covered with His blood, and led by the fire of the Holy Spirit inside you! The blood of a lamb on their doorposts spared the Israelites' firstborn sons. How much more powerful is the blood of the Lamb!
The Hebrews feared getting close to the Father lest they die as the earth trembled when He spoke. They preferred to let Moses do the communicating. But the Father created you in order to walk and talk with you as He did with Adam and Eve.
Just as He led those who believed and walked in His ways into the Promised Land, He is leading you to enter into His Kingdom here on earth. Yes, there were giants in the land and many adversaries, but He promised that His Presence would go with them. He would fight their battles, and He did - not by might; not by power, but by His Spirit.
The Father loves you with an everlasting love, and He has promised that He will never leave you nor forsake you. Yes, you too are facing giants, but with God all things are possible to those who believe.
Unlike the Israelites, you are blessed with His Grace and the Holy Spirit living inside you. When you were born again, you were translated into His glorious Kingdom. Yes, right now you are in His kingdom, which your Father wants you to experience on earth as it is in heaven.
Jesus came so that you might have life and life more abundantly. There is no sickness, pain, strife, and war in heaven, and on the cross He conquered the god of this world, who causes all the hardships. He has given you the tools. In His Name you can come against all your obstacles and do mighty exploits. You can do all things in Christ, who strengthens you! (Phil. 4: 13) He has won the war, but you have to declare it out loud and let the devil know whose you are, and that you believe what He has done for you. All things are possible to him who believes!
