Sit still, and watch your destiny unfold. How good are you at sitting still when your life or health is on the line?

One of the hardest things to do is to just sit in anticipation of a very important outcome. I learned that the hard way when my husband Jack was given no chance to live. It seemed totally ludicrous to even consider praying for healing since he was on total life support. But I did. I prayed up a storm, as I believed God's Word to me:

"If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." (John 15: 7)

Once I had laid my petitions on Him, I no longer had to carry the yokes of fear, despair, and stress.

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Phil. 4: 6 -7)

Truly, His peace filled me to the point that I knew that I knew that, despite all the impossible circumstances, my prayers had been answered. I kept hearing in my spirit: "I shall yet praise Him!" and could not stop praising and thanking Him.

Although it was a long time of sitting and waiting, it didn't seem long. Within hours the tide turned. Then, very gradually, the full healing unfolded.

The secret to receiving the answer to your prayers is not praying 'til you drop; nor is it just sitting and waiting. The secret is asking in faith, without any doubt, (Jas. 1: 6 -7) and then with thanksgiving and praise expectantly waiting for the desired outcome.

Ruth was told to sit still and wait. But she had first sat at the feet of her redeemer in the secret place, covered by his mantle of protection. (Ruth 3: 7 - 18) Are you sitting daily in your secret place with the Most High under His protective covering?

You can read the Word, study it, and even hold a degree of Theology. The only way, however, to get to know Him intimately and to learn to hear His voice is to spend quiet time with Him. Only silent reflection will open your spiritual ears.

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." (Isa. 26: 3)

Therefore, friend, if you need God to answer prayers, first get to really know Him both through His Word and just talking to Him as your Daddy. He will become so real to you! You will come to trust Him unwaveringly and soon you will know that, because you have that relationship, that He wants to give you, His child, whatever you ask of Him.

"Be still and know that I am God" (Ps. 46: 10)
